Our goal at Endófita Biotech is to harvest and characterize the unexplored microbial diversity associated with plants. We specifically target those microbes that live inside plant tissues called Endophytes. Endophytes live in close beneficial relationships with their plant host giving them protection and health against harsh environmental conditions and plagues. In a nutshell, the perfect allies for any crop cultivators that can help mitigate the effects of climate change!
At Endófita Bioitech, we are working hard to develop endophyte-based products that benefit the cultivators’ crop production, while respecting and regenerating the environment. To do so, we are using innovative microbiological approaches specific to Endophytes. In our lab, we have designed new and unique microbial culture media allowing us to capture fungal and bacterial strains never isolated before. Our microbial collection is constantly growing, giving us the opportunity to elaborate original and effective products, that will soon become omnipresent in agricultural practices in Colombia and around the world!
To characterize the diversity and potential of the microorganisms of our collection, we use the most modern techniques of Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. By looking into specific genes and sequencing their DNA, we reveal the true potentials of the diverse microbes of our collection.
